(8)i started out so happy, now i'm down.

today was good. saw the film 'nine.' it's had a lot of bad reviews, but i loved it. i was having a little discussion with someone about the main character's wife who had to choose between passion and hurt, or contentment. we all say we'd choose the former because we're scared of being bored - which we assumse contentment would bring. but really, that's naivety and a fear of that boredem, that sameness. there's a famous saying; "'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." but why exactly? could that just not be a, or even the only, consellation for our losses? would any of us really choose pain? to be honest, i'd like to say i'd choose the former, but i wouldn't quote me on that.
